AI agents for law firms

Your lawyers never learn an AI tool. The drafted documents just show up in their email.

Nothing about how your team works changes.

A chat window asks every lawyer to get good at prompting on top of a full caseload. The AI agents I build work for your whole firm, and I run them:

  • Your team emails them the work the way they would email a colleague
  • The drafted documents come back review-ready, in the thread and in Word
  • Whatever the work is at your firm, I build them to run it

[ The terms ]Flat 5,000 USD a month. First agent live within 48 hours of kickoff, or month one is refunded.

Built and run by Jordy Backes. The setup is one person’s job, and that person is me: I run the agents and keep them working.

Every legal document the agents draft

  1. Drafted by an AI agent that knows your firm

From your SOPs, your templates and the documents your best lawyer in that area has already signed

  2. Reviewed by your attorney

By reply, in the same email

  3. Sent by your firm

The same way you send it today

The agents run in our own Microsoft Azure, or in your firm’s own if you prefer. Every action the agents take is logged, and you can see the log any time.

1.0The fit

Built for firms where the routine work eats the billable day.

The work your team would hand the agents is already piling up: too many hours keeping the intake pipeline clean and up to date, too many callbacks and unsigned retainers chased by hand, and too many demand letters written from scratch every time.

This is for you if

  • Your firm has about 20 or more staff.
  • Partners or staff are the bottleneck on repetitive drafting, client intake and follow-ups.
  • You want the agents working where your team already works: Outlook, Word, Teams and Clio.

This is not for

  • Firms that want to experiment with AI themselves. The retainer is for firms that want the finished work arriving instead.
  • Firms that cannot give me one point of contact. The setup stays my job; I just need one person at your firm to work with while I build, and a few emails are enough.
  • Firms that want the AI making the legal calls on its own. Every legal document the agents draft is reviewed and approved by your attorneys, by design.
2.0The work

What the agents do, and where a person at your firm decides.

Two examples, not the menu. I find the recurring work that costs your team the most hours each week, and we start there.

Both are based on real sample runs, with fictional names. At kickoff, each is built around your firm: your steps, your templates, your jurisdiction, and what stays a personal touch or runs on its own.

2.1Intake

From the first inquiry to the signed retainer

AgentThe intake agent does the admin, from the first inquiry to the open matter.

Your team keeps the personal touch: every call and every email to a client. If you want, the agent drafts those emails for your team to review and send.

AgentAn agent does the step Orange: a person at your firm acts or decides

  1. Agent

Every new inquiry picked up, from each of your sources

From your website form, booking page, shared inboxes and phone notes.

  2. Agent

Every inquiry checked against your open matters in Clio first

A possible conflict: nothing is drafted, and a person decides

  3. Agent

    • Whether anything is agreed, in writing or not
    • Where the children live now
    • Whether another lawyer has acted for her

  4. Fit or not, by reply after the callback

    Whoever makes the callback

Calls them at the time they booked

Replies “Fit” or “Not a fit” in Outlook or Teams

“Fit”: the agent books the lawyer’s consultation.

“Not a fit”: the agent prepares the call sheet for the decline call.

2.2Drafting

From the client’s file to the signed demand letter

AgentThe drafting agent: reads the whole file, checks the law, argues the case as opposing counsel would, then drafts the letter.

3.0The adoption

One of the biggest hurdles for AI at law firms: getting people to change how they work.

ILTA Technology Survey 2025 · 580 law firms

So nothing about how your team works has to change.

The agents work like a colleague, inside the Outlook, Word and Teams your team already uses:

  • Outlook

Your team emails them the work. The draft comes back in the same thread.

  • Word

Documents arrive as Word files, ready to review.

  • Teams

Reminders arrive in your team’s channel, like a message from a colleague.

After each agent goes live, I keep improving it until both are true:

  • Your team actually uses it

In my weekly emailHow often your team acted on each agent’s work

  • What it drafts is what your best lawyer in that area would sign

In my weekly emailHow often your lawyers approved its drafts without changes

4.0The process

From the first call to your first working agent.

Step 01

The 30 minute call

When you book, you can name a few recurring tasks that take the most hours. Before the call, I build an agent workflow from them. On the call, you see it, with the emails and documents it drafted.

After the call, you get it in writing: what I would build first, and why.

Step 02

First agent live in 48 hours

After kickoff (payment received and access provided), your first AI agent is live in your firm within 48 hours, or your first month is refunded.

It starts on the highest-value job I map out from our call, built from your SOPs, your templates and the documents your best lawyer in that area has already signed.

Step 03

Built one at a time

A new agent starts once your team uses the one before it.

Changes and new requests: send them by email, and I build one every 48 business hours.

5.0The retainer

What 5,000 USD a month actually buys.

Your intake pipeline kept up to date, no callback or unsigned retainer forgotten, and the drafts written, month after month. Building the agents, watching them and keeping them current is my job, not your firm’s.

  • The work comes back ready for review

Your team forwards the work from its own Outlook. The draft comes back in the same thread.

  • Your best lawyer’s standard, for everyone

Each agent drafts from the letters and agreements your best lawyer in that area has already signed. A first-year gets the same draft a partner would.

  • New work, by email

Changes and new agents, built on request, inside the same fee. No change orders, no scoping meetings, no hourly meter.

  • Watched around the clock

What arrives overnight is ready in the morning. If anything breaks, an alert reaches my phone that minute, I start on the fix right away, and you hear about it from me.

Also included

  • A memory of your firm: grows with use, kept for your firm only
  • Tuned on your real work: the first 2 weeks of each agent
  • Better AI, as it ships: your agents get it, with security updates and maintenance included
  • Upgrades you never asked for: built from how your firm uses the agents
  • A weekly email from me: how often your team acted on each agent’s work, and how often your lawyers approved its drafts without changes
  • Every action logged: you can see the log any time
  • Your attorneys approve every legal document before it goes out
  • AI usage included in our Azure
  • Everything I build for you is yours to keep, forever.

One flat number: 5,000 USD a month for the whole firm, not per user. Everyone at the firm can use the agents.

6.0The terms

Month to month

5,000 USD/ month

No hourly billing, no surprise bills.

  • Cancel with 30 days’ notice.
  • Everything I build for you is yours to keep, forever.
  • If you ever leave, you keep the playbooks, the files and everything the agents produced. No lock-in.

The guarantee

Kickoff means payment received and access provided.

Your client data

The agents run in our own Microsoft Azure.

  • Client files stay in our Azure, never on my own computers.
  • AI usage is included.
  • Every action the agents take is logged, and you can see the log any time.

In your firm’s own Azure, if you prefer: Every client file stays in your own Microsoft environment. The agents run there, in your firm’s name. No client file is copied to my machines, and you can remove my access any time.

7.0The operator

You are hiring one person, and this is him.

Jordy Backes · Founder, Night Docket

I have built software and systems for businesses since 2017. I founded and ran a software engineering agency for 4.5 years, and since 2026 I work exclusively on AI agents for law firms.

Your firm would be among the first on this retainer.

You now have AI agents, and I make sure they actually work.

From my previous agency. Different service, same operator.

“We have seen a noticeable impact on our business. This was easy ROI and the results reached far beyond just making our money back. I feel like I finally have time to focus on my company.”

Matti Lamminsalo · Founder, Ivalo

“He cares about the results just as much as we do, which makes the collaboration very enjoyable and effortless. His communication is proactive and clear. You won’t regret it.”

Andreas Kolb · Senior Online Marketing Manager, Telefónica Germany

“Thanks to his help, we were able to release on time and with high confidence. He approaches projects with an eye on the overall business objective and user experience, and not just from a technical side.”

Marin Gerov · Head of Partnerships

Every build, published start to finish.

I build AI agents on camera and publish every build on YouTube. See how the work gets done before we talk. Someone at your firm could follow those builds and set the agents up themselves. The retainer is for firms that would rather that person be me.

8.0The questions

Questions before you book.

Where do the agents run?

The agents run in our own Microsoft Azure, or in your firm’s own if you prefer.

How your client data is kept

What if something happens to you?

Everything I build for you is yours to keep, and if I ever stop, you get everything needed to keep it running in your own Microsoft environment.

Month to month, cancel with 30 days’ notice. No lock-in.

We already use Copilot. What changes for it?

Nothing: your team keeps Copilot exactly as it is. The agents deliver their work to the same Outlook, Word and Teams your team already uses.

Do we need technical people?

No. There is nothing for your team to install, learn or maintain, and nothing about how your team works changes. The work arrives in Outlook, Word or Teams.

What does it cost?
  • 5,000 USD a month, flat.
  • In our Azure: AI usage is included.
  • In your firm’s own Azure: Microsoft bills your firm directly for what runs there for you, including my Microsoft 365 seat and the Cloud PC I work from in your environment; I credit up to 250 USD of that bill each month; anything above that only with your approval.
  • Your total is 5,000 USD a month, unless you approve more Azure use in your own environment.
  • Month to month, cancel with 30 days’ notice.
What if it makes a mistake?

Every legal document the agents draft is review-ready, never send-ready. A licensed attorney at your firm approves it before it leaves the firm, the same way you review a junior associate’s draft. For the first 2 weeks, I tune each agent on your real work.

What if our work is not the work shown here?
  • The two examples on this page are not a menu.
  • On the call, we find the recurring work that costs your team the most hours, and I map the first agent from it.
  • If someone at your firm can hand it to a colleague by email, I can build an agent to prepare it.
What happens after we say yes?

Once you decide, on the call or after your partners meet:

  1. The agreement and the NDA (signed before I see any of your documents), the first invoice and a short access checklist
  2. → The invoice paid by bank transfer, and access provided
  3. → Kickoff, and your first agent live within 48 hours

From then on, you send new requests by email, and I keep the agents running, watched and improving.
